First Islamic Center
The Islamic Society of Augusta operates in two locations. The principal location is the Islamic Community Center of Augusta (ICCA) located at 465 Old Evans Rd. Later, the address was changed to 1 Islamic Center drive. All regular ISA activities and prayers are held at ICCA.
The original mosque located at 3416 Middleton Drive was renovated in 2016 and it now serves special events and services. The Madina Hall was renamed the Azalea Hall to allow the community to use it for social events and for outreach activities. The prayer hall is available but there are no regular prayers held there. This location is now called the “First Islamic Center.”
Since Friday September 19,2025, Jumaa Friday prayer was resumed. The Khutba (speech) starts at 1:00 PM. The prayer is around 1:30 PM.

History of The First Islamic Center
The Islamic Society of Augusta (ISA) was established as an incorporated organization in 1976. Initially weekly meetings were held in different locations. It was decided to acquire a special building to have regular prayers, hold our meetings, and serve members’ other needs. The land was bought in September 1979, and the construction was completed in 1984.
In 1994 the construction was expanded to meet the growing population of the Muslim community. One major addition was the Madina hall. It was the center of all educational, outreach and interfaith activities.
In 2006 there was a clear need for further expansion because of the increasing number of members and the changing demographics with a new generation of Muslims growing in Augusta. The existing land and the neighboring houses that we bought were not suitable for further expansion.
Several years were needed to collect funds to construct a much larger community center with larger prayer halls and a larger school that can serve the growing community for several decades to come in sha Allah.
In 2012 The construction of the new community center (ICCA) was completed, and all the regular activities were moved to it.
