Flu Information
Dr. Mohammed Elsalanty, the ISA Education Secretary, wrote the following on September 14, 2009:

Yesterday, we leaned of the first confirmed case of swine flu in our community. Alhamdulillah the infection was mild and all the family members who got sick are now doing fine. I’d like to praise the mother’s decision to avoid coming to the Masjid or bring her child to the ISA school until enough time has passed, in order to protect her brothers and sisters in our community from catching the disease. May Allah reward them and grant them complete cure.

As the nation is embracing itself for what looks like a serious influenza epidemic, we request that all of us be as conscientious and as responsible. If you suspect that you or any one in your household have influenza symptoms, please stay away from crowded places, including the masjid. That’s an Islamic duty, not only a CDC recommendation.

All the Nation’s schools and universities will be much more accomodating for absenteeism this Winter, and that will include ISA school. If your child will be absent due to flu symptoms, especially fever, you only need to let the teacher know.

We will be very observant for signs of flu in the students and will have to prevent those with positive signs from contacting other children. The parents may be asked to take the child home that day.

Every classroom will have a hand sanitizer dispenser and children will be encouraged to clean their hands frequently and to sit away from each other as much as our limited space permits.

Inshallah ISA will make available some education materials on our web page. We will also arrange for an education session on swine flu for our community in the near future. In the meantime, please consult the CDC website for information and updates.
